Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Featured Artist Alejandra Guzman

September 15 to October 15 marks National Hispanic Heritage month, celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

In honor of this month of celebration, we’ll be featuring the work of Alejandra Guzman in the gallery over the next few weeks. Alejandra immigrated to the U.S. from El Salvador as a child and creates artwork that honors her culture and recreates family memories, sometimes incorporating actual heirlooms such as her Grandmother’s apron, representing her connection to her experiences and their influence on her life.

Alejandra currently teaches art at Horace Mann and can be followed at @ale.jandra.guzman and @artwithmsguzman. We invite you to stop by during Hispanic Heritage Month to see her work!
