Margaret Green (1926 – 2003)

 

Painter, notably of small landscapes in a reticent style, she was born in West Hartlepool, County Durham. Studied at West Hartlepool School of Art, then at Royal College of Art, 1944-47, winning both Henriques and Travelling Scholarships, a Silver medal and Painting Prize.

 

Showed at Royal Academy, London Group, New English Art Group, Leicester Galleries, William Ware Gallery and in several provincial galleries and touring exhibitions at home and abroad. Had solo exhibition at New Grafton Gallery in 1972.

 

Her works are in the collections of Financial Times, Chantrey Bequest, Ministries of Information and Public Works, and public galleries in Carlisle, Coventry, Leeds and Nottingham.

 

Married to the artist Lionel Bulmer, they lived at Onehouse, near Stowmarket, Suffolk.
